India vs England Commentary

5:24 PM IST Right then, another night where the ball dominated the bat to an extent given how good a surface this was to bat on and this time, it was England who were able to take advantage of the batting frailties. Next up, the caravan moves to Pune for the 4th T20I and a crucial one at that. That game will be played on Friday, 31 January and will begin at 7 pm IST (1.30 pm GMT) but you can join us a lot sooner for the build-up. Till then, take care and goodbye!
5:23 PM IST Varun Chakravarthy is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant five-wicket haul and rarely does it happen that a player from the losing team. Says that he is sad that they didn't win this game but it is the nature of the game and they will look to move on. Adds that when you are playing for the country, you need to take accountability and hopes to improve further. On his bowling spells, he says that he is mentally ready to bowl whenever required. Adds that he has been working on a flipper which is coming out nicely.
5:22 PM IST Jos Buttler, the victorious skipper of England says the pacers bowled really well and showed they can vary pace too. Lauds Adil Rashid's performance and says he is happy to have somebody like him on the team. He then goes on to appreciate the way Ben Duckett played on what was a sticky pitch. Says they lost wickets in clusters which was not ideal but they managed to get to a total and then pick early wickets which was a key. Credits Adil Rashid and Mark Wood for putting on that last wicket partnership.
5:18 PM IST Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India says that he felt there would be a bit of dew later on and with the batters in the middle, he thought the match was still in their hands. Credits Adil Rashid for the way he bowled in the middle phase and didn't allow them to rotate the strike. Mentions that you always learn something from a T20 game and he thinks that they conceded a few too many runs in the end and from a batting point of view as well, they will go back to the drawing board. On Mohammed Shami, he says that it is good to see him back in the middle and is hopeful that he will improve further. Ends by saying that he will tell Varun Chakravarthy to keep doing what he is doing and chuckles by saying that he is hopeful that he will score some more runs in the next game.
5:07 PM IST The Presentation ceremony...
5:07 PM IST Disciplined and controlled aggression from the English pacers this evening and they have managed to defend the runs on the board after coming close and being unable to get over the line in the last game. The tone was set up top by Jofra Archer, Mark Wood and Brydon Carse who picked up a wicket each. Then it was Adil Rashid who ruled the middle phase, picking up the crucial wicket of Tilak Varma and put a cap on the runs which allowed the pacers to take advantage of. Carse showed solidity yet again but it was Jamie Overton who was able to turn an underwhelming tour thus far into something meaningful and picked up 3 wickets.
